One day during school recess Patricia and her two classmates Trent and Kadija were sitting at a table talking Kadija said “one day I’m going to be a Doctor so I can help all the poor and homeless people who can’t afford to go to a good doctor”!! Trent thought about it for a moment then said ” one day I’m going to be a famous scientist , I’m going to find the cure for Cancer so no one else will have to lose their mom to it like I did ” then Patricia said ” one day I will be the President of the United States, I will unify Congress and the Senate so that we are all working together to build a better America for All the people”…Trent and Kadija just sat there with their mouths open looking at Patricia, then Little Becky sitting at the next table across from them , after hearing what they had just said said to them “You are All crazy, you Kadija can’t be a Doctor, and you Trent can’t be a Scientist’s and you Patricia definitely can’t be President of The United States” Only Patricia spoke up and said “Why can’t we be what we want to be”? Becky says ” because my father says Black people are too dumb, lazy, nasty and violent….and to be a Doctor, Scientist or the President you have to be Smart” . Trent and Kadija looked sad, but Patricia just smiled and said ” I’m sorry that your father would teach you such lies and hatred…but my Dad who is a Doctor and my Mom who is a Scientist told me I could be Anything I want to be as long as I study and work hard for it, and that I should never let anyone tell me I can’t be what I want, So today Becky you met a Black Doctor, Scientist and President of The United States at recess today” , tell you father that!!!
